I am an assistant professor of Natural Language Processing and Computational Linguistics at the Center for Language Technology, University of Copenhagen. My research focuses on data-driven approaches to language technology, especially explainable natural language processing and morphosyntactic analysis.
Specifically, I study data-driven syntax, representation learning, and word embeddings. I have introduced tools and techniques to better cope with the typological diversity of languages and improve the efficiency of language processing tools. I have also explored universal patterns in grammatical gender assignments across languages. In addition, I am interested in interpreting large language model representations and adapting them for various tasks.
Current research
- Efficient adaptation of large language models
- Universal dependency parsing
- Interpreting latent representations in large language models
- Natural language processing for environmental studies and sustainable development goals
Teaching
- Master-level courses in IT & Cognition, Computer Science, and Computational Linguistics:
- Master thesis supervision in natural language processing and computational linguistics, particularly in machine learning, language modeling, syntactic parsing, and knowledge graphs.
Primary fields of research
My research is situated predominantly in the mathematical modelings of natural languages and their applications in language technology. Specifically, I am interested in:
- Universal language models
- Representation learning
- Dependency syntax
- Explainable NLP
Fields of interest
