Academic profile:
Master of Agricultural Science (1986), PhD in Physiology (1990), Doctor of Veterinary Science (1996), Doctor of Medical Science (2009), all from University of Copenhagen (UCPH).
Current academic appointments (2017): Professor of Clinical and Experimental Nutrition, UCPH, Professor at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen and Odense University Hospital (both 10%), Adj. Professor at Sun Yat-sen University Hospital, China.
Research focuses on gastroenterology, endocrinology, immunity and nutrition in infants and animal models of infant diseases (mainly in piglets). He has lead > 50 separate research projects (0.5-60 mio DKK each), is the daily leader of 20-25 staff, and has been the project supervisor of > 30 PhD students.
Training from longer research stays in Australia, UK and China. He has co-authored > 200 international, peer-review publications and book chapters.
Academic teaching of students in nutrition, physiology, reproduction and organ development. Responsible for an international PhD course in science philosophy.
