Merete Holst Nissen graduated as DVM from the Royal Veterinary- and Agricultural University in 1997.
From 1997-2004 she worked in a small animal private practice before she got a position as veterinarian at the Small Animal Hospital at the University of Copenhagen. After 7 years in different clinical positions with special interest in small animal ophthalmology she became Acting Head of Companion Animal Hospital at February 1., 2011. By November 2013 she got the permanent position as Head of Hospital.
In 2013 she graduated as Diploma of Leadership from Metropolitan University College in Copenhagen.
From 2018-2021 she is studying for a Master of Public Governance at Copenhagen Business School.
