N2 - In his references to and discussions and use of Friedrich Nietzsche, Georges Bataille claims to be «the only one» who has understood Nietzsche. Bataille tries moreover to combine his own philosophy with Nietzsche’s, «so there were no longer two, but one movement». Bataille’s claim and endeavor are contradicted and criticized as a «strategic misreading» and misunderstanding of Nietzsche. In this article it is argued, however, with reference to the first part of Thus Spoke Zarathustra, that Bataille’s reading, and use of Nietzsche is nevertheless compatible with and fulfills Nietzsche’s instructions on how he wishes to be read and understood. Following an introduction to the fundamentals of Bataille’s philosophy and a discussion of Nietzsche’s ideas on following and his distinction between the hermeneutics of blood and ink the author concludes that Bataille is a «true« companion to Nietzsche. In broader terms the paper discusses the «impossible» question: How does Nietzsche wish to be read?I sin behandling og inddragelse af Friedrich Nietzsche hævder Georges Bataille at være «den eneste», der har forstået Nietzsche.
