N2 - The rate of caesarean section is increasing worldwide. There is scientific evidence that caesarean sections have long-term consequences in consecutive pregnancies and for mother and child. This article reviews these consequences. When consulting women before decision on mode of delivery it is encouraged that all these issues are taken into account and balanced to the benefits of having a caesarean section.
