How the Corona pandemic influenced public libraries in Denmark

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingBook chapterResearchpeer-review

The pandemic and the complete lockdown of Denmark in March 2020 led to the closing of all public libraries until May, when the reopening process began. Although the close-down was rather unexpected, the resulting challenges were met by the Danish public libraries. Facing the Corona-related challenges, Danish public libraries made use of their digital strengths, in particular. The close-down also led to increased financial challenges because of the increased demand for loans of digital materials. Sociological research, furthermore, has revealed that socioeconomic inequality in terms of learning opportunities has been increased as a result of COVID-19.
