Phyllonorycter irmella (Palm, 1947) is synonymised with Ph. lautella (Zeller, 1846) after study of the holotype from Sweden and the single other specimen, from the Netherlands. Both specimens are worn and therefore show a reduced colour pattern. Since the typelocality of Ph. irmella is out of the range of its host Quercus, we assume that the specimen either was introduced with plants, a casual vagrant, or that the record is due to mislabelling.
