Objectives: Estimates of the burden of mortality associated to physical inactivity in Santigo and the number of potentially preventable deaths associated to reductions in the prevalence of IF.
Methods: Was obtained mortality from chronic diseases whose relative risks (RR) have been identified in the literature. Using the population exposed to physical inactivity and the relative risks of inactive persons for heart disease, breast cancer, colon cancer, hypertension, type II diabetes and stroke was estimated population attributable risk (PAR %) To estimate mortality from the IF and potentially preventable mortality with a reduction of 20% of subjects physically inactive.
Results: The 29.6% of mortality from chronic non-communicable disease (CNCD) and 6.7% in mortality from all causes (MT), is attributable to physical inactivity. With the decline of 20% in the prevalence of IF in the population would be reduced by 14% mortality ECNT and 1% in the MT.
Conclusions: The burden of mortality from IF represents a significant proportion of deaths from ECNT, a decrease of IF in the population would have significant benefits in reducing deaths from ECNT and MT.
