N2 - Museums of today face the challenge of exploring and dealing with newtopics such as immigration, integration and social differences. This paper arguesthat these new topics bring forth a new, postmodern paradigm for the museumas a contemporary institution. Exploiting concrete examples from a researchproject on the social development in a multi-ethnic social housing area in Greve, south of Copenhagen, the paper identifies and discusses three characteristics of thepostmodern museum project: a pluralistic approach to contemporary topics, theinclusion of new user groups in constructing both the field of research and the fieldof communication, and the need to be aware of the context of each statement, whether material or verbal.
