N2 - Allergies to metals are common, with nickel allergy being the most frequent form of contact allergy. Contact allergies are classified as delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions in which T cells are the key players. In this chapter, we describe how metals are presented to T cells and discuss the current literature on the role of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in contact allergies to metals.
