N2 - Upper respiratory tract infections with common virusses is the most frequent cause of asthma exacerbations. Numerous defects in both epithelial function, pathogen recognition and innate immune signalling has been demonstrated in patients with asthma. The subject of this review is these recent findings and the potential therapeutic targets that are being identified.
