N2 - Objectives: This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows:. Main objective To assess the benefits and harms of mesh compared with non-mesh in emergency groin hernia repair in adult patients with an inguinal or femoral hernia. Secondary objective To assess whether the effects of mesh versus non-mesh in emergency groin hernia repair differ according to the degree of contamination.
