In this issue of Molecular Cell, Huertas and Aguilera provide compelling evidence that the THO/TREX complex plays an important role in preventing RNA: DNA hybrids from forming during transcript elongation, thereby allowing efficient transcription of long genes and suppressing unwanted DNA recombination.
