N2 - The focus of this contribution is the potential for "expansionist" lawmaking by national courts when they interpret private international legislation, in casu the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). After surveying a number of concrete examples, both real and hypothetical, the author concludes that most national course are not "running wild" with the CISG.
