N2 - Catatonia is a common but often overlooked motor syndrome in child and adolescent psychiatry. It is characterized by a variety of symptoms, most often excitement, immobility, stupor, catalepsy, grimacing, echolalia, echopraxia, stereotypies, mannerisms, logorrhoea, verbigeration, negativism, staring and withdrawal. This case report illustrates how a 17-year-old man was diagnosed with catatonia after one year of repeating psychiatric care. The catatonic symptoms decreased significantly after a short period of lorazepam administration.
