My main research focus is the study of multiple organismal interactions, particularly between plant, insect and microorganisms and the underlying molecular mechanisms driving these interactions.
Current research
As a postdoctoral researcher, I am involved in the H2020 Excalibur project (https://www.excaliburproject.eu/), which aims to enhance the knowledge on soil biodiversity dynamics and its synergistic effects with prebiotic and probiotic approaches in horticulture, using a multi-actor approach.
My main tasks are to:
- Carry out trials in strawberry integrated and organic fields to assess the effects of fungal inoculum on the plant growth, production and health, as well as on the soil biodiversity;
- Develop markers to detect and quantify fungal inoculum in soil to assess its persistence in the field;
- Study the molecular mechanisms driving the interaction between strawberry plants, spider mites and entomopathogenic fungi under control conditions.
