The working title of my PhD project is Loss and belonging - life with Alzheimer's disease. The aim of the project is to explore how persons with Alzheimer’s disease experience their illness and the challenges they face in terms the illness (in relation to themselves, their family and in terms of participating in society). Previous research in the field of dementia has focused on how caregivers and health professionals act to preserve the personhood of the person with dementia. However, little research has been done on how persons with Alzheimer’s disease relate to the changes that happen to them. In this project I therefore focus primarily on the person with dementia.
My research project is an Industrial PhD in cooperation with the Danish Alzheimer Society (Alzheimerforeningen).
