Primary fields of research

I examen the ways in which modern satirical artworks have reacted to different kinds of censorship from the beginning of the 19th century until today. I primarily investigate visual artworks and literature from Europe and the US.    

In my previous research, I have investiagaed the history of religious satire in Europe and different representations of affects and atmospheres in literature. 

I am director the research group European Cultures of Laughter, board-member of The Satire Research Network, and ordinary member of International Society for Humor Studies and the research cluster Doing Cultural History.
