Primary fields of research
My research focuses on the interaction between microorganisms and insects and includes both fundamental and applied projects. The overarching theme is understanding how microorganisms and insects influence each other, particularly insect diseases. I have worked with a broad range of insects e.g. honey bees, ants, flies, aphids, crickets, and beetles.
-
Insect production for food and feed
-
Apiculture (honeybee disease management, subspecies, and conservation)
-
Biological control of insects by use of insect-pathogenic fungi
-
Insect pathology (ecology and phylogeny of insect pathogenic fungi)
-
Evolutionary biology (co-evolution of insects and microorganisms)
