N2 - This chapter resituates the debate on what defines the Somalisociety away from security, postcolonial predicaments and currentchallenges, into decolonial and indigenous strongpoints and prospectsresiding with the versatile Somali culture, with the creativearticulations of life, such as found in the direct and indirect designof places where we live. It is possible to argue that culture is whathas kept the Somali people together since the Ogaden War of1977. It is locally the backbone of an increasingly well workingdecolonial and democratic society in the Somali Peninsula, andworldwide it brings the Somali diaspora together across bordersand relate back to the origins in the Peninsula. Culture is perhapsthe singular most important and emphatic bond of Somalis.
