Becoming a parent and raising children is a typical life experience for many individuals including people with psychosis. However, severe mental health problems can have an impact on social and relational functioning and can lead to concerns about how mental health problems will affect parenting and the wellbeing of the child. In this chapter, we summarise knowledge on parenting in psychosis during the infancy period and discuss risk and resilience factors for quality of parenting and optimal infant developmental outcome from an attachment perspective. The chapter ends with perspectives for future research and preventive interventions.
