During recent years in vitro and animal studies have contributed significantly to the knowledge of Candida virulence mechanisms and identification of potential targets for new antifungal treatment. Candida infection is seen as a significant problem for human health in the future in particular in immunocompromised patients (World Health Organization, 2014).
