I am a PhD candidate at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Biomedical Innovation Law (CeBIL) where I study pull incentives for antibiotic innovation.

The title of my PhD project is:

The term of patent protection or regulatory exclusivity as an innovation lever

An economically informed legal analysis of the efficiency of using (non-transferable and/or transferable) patent extension or regulatory exclusivity extension to incentivize the development of new antibiotics in Europe

The research question which I seek to answer is:

To what extent is (non-transferable and/or transferable) patent extension or regulatory exclusivity extension an efficient policy instrument for incentivizing the development of new antibiotics in Europe (with efficiency defined as the ability to generate more new antibiotics for which there is a public health need at lower social cost)?
